Case Study: Attic Insulation Problem

Insulation slows down the flow of heat between the living space of your home and the outside or attic. A well insulated home feels warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer and has lower heating and cooling costs than a poorly insulated home. Gaps in insulation allow heat to be transferred more quickly. This can result in comfort issues such as drafts, deterioration of the building, staining from condensation and air movement – and higher energy bills.

Insulation pushed away by electrician The ceiling of the living room in this home had some dark streaks. The homeowner also complained of drafts. Among other things Pure Energy discovered was that an electrician had moved the insulation in the attic to install a ceiling fan and did not put it back. This problem was easily fixed by replacing the missing insulation.

Fortunately, the electrician left the batts in the attic so they could be replaced. Now, there are no insulation voids in the attic.
